Will the Covid-19 End Reality Television Forever?
The Covid-19 outbreak has changed society forever. There is no guarantee that our lives will go back to the way there were before the coronavirus pandemic. The coronavirus has affected all industries, but especially the entertainment industry, All production for scripted movies and television shows have been rescheduled for a later date when Covid-19 has settled down a bit. But, what about reality television? How will reality television survive if they are unable to film many people in a crowded place at one time? Reality shows are all about people interacting with others in close corners. Does reality television even have a future after Covid-19?
All reality television shows airing on right now were filmed before the coronavirus outbreak got out of hand. Soon, those shows will run out. Televisions shows aren't able to film any new footage or content because of ordered quarantine. It is too dangerous right now to have that many people that close to each other. The coronavirus has honestly changed how we interact with others forever. There are so many reality television shows that focus on strangers all living in one house together. The Bachelor & The Bachelorette are a perfect example of a widely popular reality television show that may never be the same because of the coronavirus.
The Bachelor franchise focuses on 25 different people living together for a period of time. They fly people all over the world to have dates and find love. The whole show follows the intimate moments shared between these people as well. None of this can happen now because of Covid-19. As of right now, we have no idea when this pandemic will come to an end and we can return to normal. Do we just let the series end for now? If we do that, will it ever come back? Reality television's existence is all up in the air right now. Reality television channels have been brainstorming ways they can get back to filming when this pandemic calms down. They have realized they are going to have to limit travel, perform regular testing for the virus, and keep all members of the show at least six feet apart from each other. These suggestions must be enforced in order to protect everyone and guarantee everyone safety.
Personally, I enjoy watching reality television. I consider it to be a guilty pleasure of mine. I would be deeply saddened if reality television eventually cannot go on normally due to this virus. Reality television is a huge part of our society, but the safety of others is more important. It would be a huge culture shock to our society if reality television cannot go on.
