President Trump's Border Wall

President Trump has received funds to build the border wall

The Appeals Court has now denied the injunction that was trying to prohibit President Donald Trump to reallocate military money that was approved for other military projects.  President Trump is reallocating some of the military construction funds to build a border wall between the US and Mexico. Trump’s administration claimed that the country will suffer harm if it didn’t build the wall. He declared it a state of emergency last winter. The Appeals court ruled in Trump’s favor. Trump made a campaign promise to build a wall in 2016.

In my assessment of this case, I believe the money should not have been diverted from other military projects and should have been used the way Congress intended it to be used. This is a democracy and when something is voted on it shouldn’t be changed just because you don’t like the outcome of the vote. I feel that it was important for the injunction that prohibited the wall to be denied because we need the border wall in order to secure safety for our country. I believe that Trump knew that people who voted for him would be upset if he couldn’t get the wall built like he promised during his campaign in 2016. We the people voted for him based upon what we had envisioned for our country, so I feel he should fight for the wall.

Therefore, he declared a national emergency at the border with Mexico so that he could use the military construction money that was to be used elsewhere to help build this wall. The fact is that Trump knew that the only way he could get away with reallocating the money as if he declared it an emergency, stating there was a crisis at the border.

This court battle relates to us as communication people because it displays how everyone is able to spread their own opinion within our society. This court battle relates to the first amendment in that people are allowed to freely speak about their feelings regarding Trump's border wall. They are able to agree or disagree with the administration freely. I feel this court battle relates to communication in t
hat we are able to receive more information about the battle through people's different opinions.

Fake News is Everywhere

Fake News is Everywhere       Facebook has focused a lot of their attention on making sure that their site is free from misinformation and fake news. They have even gone as far as to make new policies in order to keep fake news completely separate for their site. However, the editable link previews that Facebook had previously abolished because they caused misinformation, have recently resurfaced about six months ago. The editable link preview on Facebook gain people the access to edit images, headlines, and descriptions on public posts. Facebook terminated this feature back in 2017, because of the huge amount of fake news that was created because of it, but in September of 2019, it came back.      In my opinion, I am very impressed by how serious Facebook took this fake news information from the beginning. I believe that the fake news within our media culture has gotten extremely out of hand, especially on social media. My favorite aspect of soc...

Eight Values of Free Expression

Key Post: Eight Values of Free Expression The First Amendment is based upon six freedoms. The freedom from religion, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, and freedom to petition. The First Amendment gives us the people the right to free expression. Freedom of expression focuses on how the government doesn't have the right to forbid the public from talking about or writing about whatever they want. There are eight different values of free expression. I personally feel that the most important values of free expression are the participation in self-government (#2) and the value to protect dissent (#8). The value to participate in self-government is very important because it relates freedom of speech to self-government. It is very important for the people of society to be informed on what is going on in politics and in the government because then they will be able to make smart decisions and know exactly what is going on within the ...
